Mission Statement

Project H.E.A.L. Chattanooga is a a non-denominational, faith based, non-profit organization created to help and encourage families after the loss of a loved one with a primary mission of helping parents after the loss of a child. The loss of a loved one is always a great burden to bear, but losing a child can be devastating to the surviving parents and siblings. Our foundation will serve to assist and minister to those families’ immediate and more long-term needs when possible. Our focus will include but not be limited to three key areas: 1) assistance with financial hardships such as funeral costs in families who find the cost too much to bear, 2) providing access to grief counseling, and 3) providing a place for retreat and healing on the anniversary of their loss or the birthday of their loved one.

The establishment of this organization was inspired by the loss of my two nephews, whose deaths were separated by only 15 months and then the loss of my own son, Alec McKeehan Newby, October 12, 2013.  - James T. Newby Jr., Founder
